With the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and WHO-Europe advancing efforts toward greater interoperability, HIMSS is placing the spotlight on its 2025 high-impact Interoperability Showcase in a dedicated specialty pavilion and a series of impactful demonstrations on the Tech Leadership Stage at HIMSS25 Europe.

Interoperability and the use of data and technologies can elevate patient experience, improve patient outcomes, and drive greater effectiveness and efficiency, with benefits for both the public and private sectors.

Built on practical demonstrations, collaborative efforts and EU initiatives, we provide a space to explore the challenges and opportunities of interoperability use and adoption in today’s health.

These live demonstrations use multiple software applications to collaborate with each other to deliver the patient care required. For the demonstrations to work, the software applications need to exchange data – to be interoperable – and IHE Catalyst (who do all the heavy lifting to connect the software and enable the exchange of patient data) only has about two weeks to program all the links and exchanges, which means software vendors can only participate if their software is interoperable to a published standard.

From an audience perspective the showcase demonstrates the role and functionality of each software solution while also showing the CIOs and others how the software presented fits into a provider’s tech stack with low friction and without heavyweight system integration to marry up proprietary data protocols.
