One of two online healthcare graduate degree programs offered at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), the Master of Science in Health Information Management and Technology (HIMS) degree has a tri-fold approach: Health Care/ Information and Technology / Leadership & Management.

The Master of Science in Health Information Management and Technology program is designed for experienced health care, information technology and related professionals, as well as those looking to change career paths, with the desire to obtain and apply best practices in health information management and technology integration within a dynamic health care environment.

Using an applied “hands on” approach, students will develop skills in healthcare, information technology, leadership and management, health data analytics, finance, legal aspects, coding and reimbursement, ethics, health information systems and technologies, health information management-related research methods, health policy and current trends and issues impacting both the profession and health care industry.
