HIMSS Foundation Opens 2027 Professional Certification Grant Applications
The HIMSS Foundation is opening applications for its 2027 Professional Certification Grant on Oct. 8, 2026, expanding access to professional credentials that can help advance careers in health information and technology.
Offered in partnership with the HIMSS Global Health Equity Network, the annual grant removes financial barriers for eligible underrepresented professionals, students, veterans and veterans' spouses pursuing CAHIMS, CPHIMS or CPDHTS certification.
Grant recipients receive a comprehensive certification package at no cost, including study materials, e-learning courses, textbooks, office hours with HIMSS staff, exam fees and HIMSS membership.
Since launching the program, the HIMSS Foundation has awarded 24 certification grants in 2023 and another 24 in 2024, helping professionals build skills that support digital health transformation in their communities.
This grant creates opportunities for recipients to apply new knowledge beyond certification and translate that knowledge into real-world healthcare impact.
Applications for the 2027 HIMSS Foundation Professional Certification Grant open Oct. 8, 2026, and close Nov. 17, 2026. Eligibility details and application requirements are available on the HIMSS Foundation page.Â
The HIMSS Foundation has empowered the next generation of leaders since 1996, equipping them with educational and professional opportunities to drive positive change within the health tech ecosystem through scholarships, educational programs, grants, internships and externships.
