The HIMSS UK & Ireland Community has relaunched the Clinical Informatics Maturity Survey, inviting digital health leaders, clinical informatics professionals and senior clinicians from across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to participate.

The Clinical Informatics Maturity Survey seeks to build a comprehensive picture of how clinical informatics teams are structured, staffed and supported within healthcare organisations.

Clinical informatics teams play a vital role in advancing digital transformation, enabling the safe use of data and ensuring digital technologies directly support better patient care. These teams bridge the gap between clinical practice and technology by bringing together clinicians with expertise in digital health, analytics and change management.

The 2025 Clinical Informatics Maturity Survey established an important baseline for understanding the profession across the UK and Ireland. This year's survey will explore how clinical informatics teams are evolving, the professional backgrounds of those working within them, the role of EPR systems and digital transformation programmes and how clinical informatics contributes to organisational digital maturity. The survey will also help identify emerging trends, opportunities and challenges facing the profession.

Insights from the survey will support workforce planning, professional development and future investment in clinical informatics capability. Most importantly, they will provide one of the first longitudinal views of the clinical informatics profession across the UK and Ireland, helping to demonstrate how the workforce is evolving and where further support may be needed.

The survey is open to digital health leaders, clinical informatics professionals and senior clinicians engaged in digital delivery and transformation.
