HIMSS welcomes four new members to its Board of Directors as artificial intelligence, digital transformation and emerging technologies continue to reshape health and healthcare.

Iain Buchan, Donna M. Roach, Thomas Kiesau and Sandeep Dadlani joined the HIMSS Board in July2026, strengthening HIMSS’s strategic outlook as healthcare organizations and policy leaders respond to rapid advances across the global health ecosystem.

Together, they bring additional experience and insights to the HIMSS Board of Directors that will help inform HIMSS and its work supporting global members as they navigate the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of healthcare.

Iain Buchan is the inaugural W.H. Duncan Professor of Public Health Systems at the University of Liverpool and founding director of its Civic Health Innovation Labs. A public health physician and data scientist, he brings more than 25 years of experience in data-intensive health research, public health and AI, offering a perspective on how data and innovation can improve population health.

Donna M. Roach is the system chief digital and information officer for University of Utah Health, where she leads digital and information technology strategy across the health system. With more than three decades of healthcare IT experience, Roach brings extensive health system leadership experience. Under her leadership, University of Utah Health achieved the HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 Award in 2025.

Thomas Kiesau is a managing partner at Chartis, the firm’s chief AI and digital officer, and leads the Chartis Center for AI and Digital Transformation. With more than 25 years of experience, he has advised healthcare organizations on digital transformation, AI-enabled operating models and new approaches to care delivery.

Sandeep Dadlani is chief executive officer of Optum Insight at Optum, where he leads technology solutions. He brings nearly three decades of experience in enterprise technology, digital transformation and global business leadership, including leading large-scale technology and AI transformation efforts.
