King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Achieves HIMSS INFRAM Stage 6 Validation
King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has successfully achieved Stage 6 validation on the Infrastructure Adoption Model (INFRAM), marking a major milestone in its digital transformation journey.
Achieving INFRAM Stage 6 places the Trust among a select group of hospitals across Europe that have reached this level of digital maturity. The validation highlights the organisation’s ability to maintain robust, secure and reliable IT systems that support their clinical operations.
This progress reflects sustained investment in infrastructure with strength and dedication of the Trust’s IT teams. Their work has been instrumental in supporting clinical staff, improving internal workflows, and enhancing the overall patient experience. The achievement is also a testament to a culture of resilience and continuous improvement, with teams already focused on advancing towards INFRAM Stage 7.
“This is well-deserved recognition of many years of serious hard work by the team here at King’s,” said Clive Kay, Chief Executive Officer of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. “I am consistently impressed by the dedication and commitment shown by our IT team, and by the extraordinary efforts that have gone into improving our digital capability to support all of our teams to deliver the best possible care to our patients. I am incredibly proud of this recognition of the outstanding digital support here at King’s, and I am incredibly grateful to all the team members involved in getting us to this impressive position.”
The validation process also highlighted the Trust’s strong leadership and clear commitment to using digital infrastructure as a foundation for clinical transformation. This was evident following the organisation’s Epic go-live, where leadership played a critical role in stabilising operations while continuing to push forward with optimisation and innovation efforts.
Bansi Shah, Digital Health Strategist at HIMSS, who led the validation, commended the Trust’s leadership and vision: “The strength of leadership across the organisation was apparent throughout the review. The executive team has demonstrated a clear and sustained commitment to investing in digital infrastructure and technology as a core enabler of clinical transformation. Congratulations on a well-deserved achievement!”
The HIMSS Infrastructure Adoption Model provides a globally recognised framework for evaluating an organisation's infrastructure maturity based on cybersecurity, adoption, sustainability, performance and outcomes.
