Interoperability enables connected cross-border cancer care for Nordic patient ‘Sofia’: HIMSS26 Europe Interoperability Showcase® (Sponsored)

In this 2026 use case, follow the journey of Sofia, a 62-year-old patient undergoing cancer treatment who later develops hypertension and diabetes during the course of her care. As her condition becomes more complex, clinicians across multiple specialties must bring together fragmented information from different systems and care settings to support safer, more coordinated decision-making.

Interoperable technologies enable the exchange and enrichment of longitudinal patient summaries, support real-time clinical decision support, and advance more connected care workflows. This live demonstration highlights both what is possible today and how the European Health Data Space (EHDS) can further transform standardized, patient-centered interoperability across the healthcare ecosystem.
