House Reconciliation Bill Overview, June 2025

Budget reconciliation is a process used by the U.S. Congress to pass certain budget-related provisions with a simple majority vote in both the House of Representatives and Senate, bypassing a Senate filibuster. It is a tool used to implement key parts of the President’s domestic policy agenda when a political party controls both the House and Senate, and the White House. The reconciliation legislation is specific to changes in federal spending, revenues, and/or the debt limit and is limited to changes lasting for a 10-year window. Identical language must be passed by the House and the Senate before it can be sent to the President for his signature.

Cyber-Physical Impacts and Consequences in Healthcare During Normal Times and Crises

Healthcare organizations face a growing convergence of cyber and physical threats — risks that can intensify during periods of armed conflict or heightened geopolitical tension. Government threat assessments indicate a steady escalation in hostile cyber activity, historically aimed at government, financial, and energy sectors, but increasingly targeting healthcare. Hospitals that conduct research, handle commercially or militarily valuable data, or support government bodies are especially high-value targets. Many of these organizations may already have been targeted by advanced persistent threats (APTs) probing for vulnerabilities.

Elevating Virtual Nursing Through Smarter Nurse Call Integration

Virtual nursing is rapidly transforming care delivery, offering hospitals a scalable way to address staffing shortages, improve patient outcomes, and streamline workflows. In fact, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) 2025 Nursing Leadership Insight Study indicates that utilization of virtual care is the #1 advancement organizations will continue to use for the redesign of healthcare. That is up from the #4 ranking just one year ago.[1] But to truly unlock its potential, virtual care must be supported by infrastructure and processes that enable seamless communication, contextual awareness, and efficient task management. That’s where modern nurse call systems come in.

Operationalizing Equity: Measuring Digital Health Access, Literacy, and Outcomes

Digital health is revolutionizing care delivery, but unless care is delivered with a well-developed measurement infrastructure, digital health promises to amplify disparities. With the rise of digital options, such as telehealth and mobile apps, as critical parts of the equation of health access, marginalized communities still suffer uneven access, literacy, and uptake. Even as much national attention comes to health equity moving forward, a specific leadership gap remains unsatisfied: no coherent evidence-based health equity measurement tool exists to measure digital health equity.

A Primer for Evaluating Health Information Exchange in Long-Term and Post-Acute Care

Receiving a new resident without the necessary care information can have serious outcomes for resident care as well as facility reimbursement. According to a report published by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ASTP/ONC)1, only 42% of hospitals reported that they send summary of care documents to most or all external hospitals, and 38% reported that they send that information to most or all external ambulatory care providers. However, only 27% of hospitals that were routinely interoperable across all domains (defined as the ability to send, receive, find and integrate health information) sent electronic summary of care records to external long-term post-acute care (LTPAC) health providers.
