The AI Trust Advantage: What Healthcare Leaders Need to Know Before Scaling

By Nicole Ramage, Senior Market Insights Manger, HIMSS

Two HIMSS Global Insights studies reveal the readiness gaps standing between AI launches and lasting adoption

Healthcare has moved past “Should we use AI?” to now asking “How quickly can we implement AI?” Across two 2026 HIMSS Global Insights studies, one surveying 345 healthcare leaders on AI implementation1 and the other surveying patients on trust and acceptance, the research described two halves of the same challenge. Organizations must build the governance, data, and workflow foundations that carry AI beyond the pilot stage, and they must earn the trust of the patients that AI is meant to serve. Neither effort succeeds without the other, and leaders who treat them as separate workstreams risk building a technically sound system that patients and clinicians never fully embrace.
